Collaborative Consumption

I’ve come across a few great websites in the last few days, and I thought I’d share them with the world…

First of all, I finally sat down to read (via i-Pad) the latest issue of the Watershed Sentinel, a great magazine from British Columbia (I subscribe; you should too). In it, I found a great article about how wi-fi is killing us, and many more great articles, including one about sharing (subscribers only). It mentioned the group Share The World’s Resources, which promotes, well, sharing. Searching through their website gives one a whole new outlook on economics.

While updating the apps on my iPad, I looked at the latest offerings from TED. The one that caught my eye was “The case for collaborative consumption” by Rachel Botsman. Fascinating talk about sharing, bartering, exchange and web-based organizations that help you do these things. Check it out!

And speaking of sharing, how about the site I found while looking through the latest Technology Review? There was a small article called Start Me Up that talked about the kickstarter.com site, where you can fund your creative project with small contributions from many people, who get a reward in return. What a great way to get things done!
